Jack the Giant Slayer (previously titled Connector the Giant Killer) is a the year 2013 American heroic fantasy adventure film according to British fairy tales "Jack the Massive Killer" and "Jack and the Beanstalk". The film is directed by Bryan Singer with a screenplay written from Darren Lemke, Christopher McQuarrie and John Studney and stars Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Mary Nighy, and Ewan McGregor. The movie tells the story of Jack, an early farmhand who must rescue a little princess from a race of giants subsequent to inadvertently opening a gateway to any land in the sky.
Development of Jack the Giant Slayer began in 2005, when Lemke foremost pitched the idea. D. J. Caruso was hired to direct the film in January 2009, but in May of that year, Caruso was replaced by Singer, who hired McQuarrie Studney to rework the script. The main promises characters were cast between February and so March 2011, and principal photography was able in April 2011 in England at locations in Somerset, Gloucestershire and Norfolk. Release of the film was went back in post-production to allow longer for special effects and marketing.
